Dear Reader,
I am writing today as I have continually looked for open positions to apply for, but have yet to find any opportunities. I live down the street from the Kaweah Oaks Preserve. I frequent the preserve almost every day. I know I have great ideas to create a better sense of community while stimulating a heightened sense of global consciousness. Often on my runs I collect armfuls of garbage all along the way. I try to assume the best in others and propose that most of the garbage comes from when people throw their trash in the beds of their trucks. Road 182 is what people consider to be a 'back road' where people frequently speed. Their speeding causes their trash to fly out. People have left desks, full garbage bags, oil, dead animals, etc. I feel that the littering and oil dumping that happens consistently is disgraceful just as it is disgusting. I attribute this careless behavior to a lack of knowledge among our community. I believe we can make a change locally/globally by setting the right example for our community. We are lucky people cared enough about this preserve to save it for future generations. I feel we're doing them a disservice by not properly expanding our communal responsibility and educating the public.
