Hello,
My name is Alicia Corvera I am a California native who is attending ASU through Starbucks! I've been a partner for almost three years now! When I'm not working as a barista, I maintain my entrepreneurial business of selling goods that I've thrifted, altered ( I love to sew&embroider), painted, or created on my website. I love fashion and design. I am a History major who loves vintage items and antique knickknacks; rightly so I dabble with interior design and experimenting with home decor. I also love nature and photography, both of which led to my passion for gardening. I am eager to get my BA in History so I can fund my dream of opening a cafe/thrift store/library/bar/live music venue one day. I also want to have my own TV show. I'm going to call it The Shit Show. It's going to be interviews with intriguing people, regarding topics that are taboo; or shit people don't want to talk about. I was inspired by my first Sociology course, as I was fascinated by the different ideologies and cultural norms that shift across the globe. I was upset that I had never heard of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the child pornography norms in Japan, etc. It is my dream to bridge culture gaps and help people to see the world through a sociological lens, to help diminish inequality and injustice throughout the globe. I hope to delight in insightful discussion with you all to help enhance our capabilities of comprehending how Sociologists of the past shed light on the various ways to reach societal growth.
