I love when I'm writing a response on a discussion and only the bottom half posts
I had complimented her ability to properly convey the Southern mindset.
Confederate view accurately displays the ideology of their nationalistic ways. They felt they were the true rule of the people. Southerners didn't feel the need to adhere to the wishes of people who equally benefited from the prosperity of slavery, but negated its necessity to sustain such a high level of productivity. Imagine how the world would be if they would have won! Throughout the readings I keep finding myself making comparisons to the political upheaval we are currently in the midst of. It seems that neo-confederates have infiltrated our democracy to shape our citizens into new slaves of a capitalistic nature. They have used the lack of political involvement of the youth to their advantage and lobbied their way into power using monetary influence. Through capitalism, culture, and the new chattel system known as the prison system; they've imprisoned us to powerlessness by fear and hatred. These same powers realize that they can no longer impact us through religious basis, and our societies are much more advanced scientifically that claims of biological superiority are quickly debunked. Because of this they’ve used the impact of culture fueled by the power of globalization and technological advances to insinuate the idea that American culture is far superior than any other. Our current state of democracy is a global joke. When I read, “the taint of slavery will render the cause of the South loathsome to the civilized world," I reflected on how America is currently loathsome to the civilized world. Donald Trump being elected as our president, in a global perspective, exemplifies the culture-saturated, lazy, and idiotic caricature Americans are perceived to be. Our culture is monopolized by puppeteers who fuel our media with ideals of money, fame, success, and glamour to continue to line their pockets and bend us to their will. We are slaves. The South [wealthy white males] rose again.
