Manifested finding a Toni Morrison book at the thrift store and happened upon Beloved. Finished it this morning. I feel as though I peeked into a world I had never really seen the true depth of. I’ve studied history; read of atrocities - but never in a way that felt so personal. You see slavery at “…the lowest yet”, the extent of its cruelty. It’s daunting reach, and the lasting generational marring it’s had on American society. It’s brutally honest. It’s no wonder Toni Morrison won the Nobel Peace Prize for this novel. An amazing book in case anyone’s looking for recommendations 📚📖📕

Not gonna lie sometimes it was hard to read. It makes me appreciate it even more because if it pulled so much emotion from me reading it I can only imagine the emotion and energy it took to write this.
